The Year of the Kid – November

GivingTuesday

Last year, my GivingTuesday blog focused on generosity and the need to donate your TIME year-round. I believe this should be the case every year and thus this month’s blog is pretty much the same as last year’s and will be the same for next year’s.

GivingTuesday is about much more than fundraising. It’s a movement centered on generosity in all forms – volunteering, advocacy, acts of kindness and community building. Each year, millions of people participate by donating goods, sharing their skills or using their voices to uplift causes they care about. In 2024 alone, 12.9 million people donated goods and 9.2 million volunteered in the US, demonstrating that GivingTuesday inspires action far beyond monetary contributions.

GivingTuesday is a global movement started in 2012 to inspire kindness and good deeds. It takes place annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and is now celebrated in over 85 countries.

Infectious Generosity

Generosity empowers individuals to effect positive change in the lives of others and represents a core value that is accessible to all. Acts of generosity are evident on a daily basis through activities such as assisting neighbors, supporting causes, sharing expertise, or advocating for important issues. Everyone possesses resources to contribute, and each demonstration of generosity holds significance. (Check out this short TED talk with Asha Curran on how acts of kindness sparked a global movement.)

Other Ways To Give
