Year of the Kid – May’s Blog

We continue this month to highlight those nonprofits that make life better for OUR children. In this day and age, I can’t think of anything more important than the mental wellbeing of our kids.

Love You, Kid! proudly supports the Wisconsin Alliance for Infant Mental Health (WI-AIMH). The vision of WI-AIMH is for all Wisconsin infants and young children to reach their fullest potential through nurturing and consistent relationships within the context of family, community and
culture.

Established in 2001, the Wisconsin Alliance for Infant Mental Health is a Wisconsin statewide non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of social-emotional learning and relationship-based practices through raising public awareness, providing resources for professional development and advocating for policies that are in the best interest of infants, young children and their families.

Wisconsin Pyramid Model

WI-AIMH strives to promote infant mental health through building awareness, promoting professional capacity, fostering partnerships and supporting policies which are in the best interest of infants, young children and their families. The centerpiece of WI-AIMH is the Wisconsin Pyramid Model. The Wisconsin Pyramid Model envisions that every infant and young child in Wisconsin will experience nurturing and genuine relationships within engaging, culturally responsive environments that respect diversity in all its forms. This approach aims to ensure healthy social and emotional development.

This model provides a framework for adults to promote healthy social skills and emotional skills. Included in social skills are making friends, sharing, solving problems and following directions and rules. Included in organization skills are managing strong emotions, labeling feelings, being kind to others and understanding the feelings of others.

The Wisconsin Alliance for Infant Mental Health is making a positive difference in the lives of children. What a great organization!
