Year of the Kid – April’s Blog

I continue this month with a focus on the organizations that Love You, Kid! supports. Many of you reading this are doing so in the comfort of your home. Imagine for a second if you had no home. Where would you eat, shower, or get dressed?

Hope House was originally created in 1987 by five local churches to address homelessness on Milwaukee’s south side.  Over the years Hope House has evolved into a respected agency known for providing support, housing services and a brighter future for families struggling with homelessness.

There are five Housing Programs within Hope House.
  • Family Bonds Housing Program- families are placed into apartments of their own, often using Hope House’s onsite shelter to get them off the street immediately
  • Families Allies Housing Program- this is a unique program that is specifically for families in which a family member suffers from a disability
  • Eviction Prevention and Rent First Payee- this program provides eviction prevention
  • Family Flex Fund-this program provides housing and case management
  • St. Catherine’s of Hope- a program for single women in need of living quarters

The goals of these programs are for families to obtain and remain in permanent housing, to achieve greater self-determination and to increase skills and/or income.

Love You, Kid! strongly believes that every child should have a place they call home. Hope House makes this happen nearly every day. No child should ever have to worry where they are going to sleep at night. Love You, Kid! proudly supports Hope House.
