It was wonderful to watch the many families that attended the first two movies of the “Movie in the Park Summer Series” at the 400 block that is presented by Wausau & Marathon County Parks, Recreation & Forestry. The weather was perfect for the estimated 300 plus moviegoers that attended each movie. The movies delighted the audiences.
Love You, Kid is the Series Sponsor of the six movies that are free to the public. The remaining movies that will be shown this summer are:
- The Lion King – July 11th
- Wish – August 1st
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – August 8th
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Mutant Mayhem – August 22nd
The shows start promptly at 7pm so don’t be late.
So, you may be asking yourself, “Why is Love You, Kid the series sponsor of this event?” The answer is simply that Love You, Kid is a foundation that focuses on bettering the lives of children. I can think of no better way of improving a child’s life than supporting and sponsoring activities that promote family time together!
Scanning the crowd brought me back in time and provided the following observations:
- It was refreshing to see the lack of cell phones being used
- That the more things change, the more they stay the same. It’s hard to beat an outdoor movie, awesome weather, popcorn and ice cream along with spending quality time with your family. It reminded me of the Drive-In movie days of my era back in the 60’s
- That the world is very different today as the presence of 4 police officers for the event were welcomed
- New friendships that were established as a result of the event. I heard quite a few families introducing themselves and ending up sitting together
- That Mark Dorow, Recreation Superintendent is one of the hardest workers I know. He is the point person for the event, and I discovered there are many moving parts to make this event successful
- Events such as this, is what makes Central Wisconsin a wonderful place to live
